1923: Beer Hall Putsch
Hitler and his fellow Nazi party members planned to start a revolution by seizing control of a Munich government building. It was a complete failure, and resulted in the jailing of Nazi leaders (including Hitler) and the disbandment of the Nazi Party.
1923 - 1925: Hitler's Jail Time
The leaders of the Beer Hall Putsch got relatively light sentences. Hitler, who was sentenced to five years, was released after less than two, and while in jail, he composed his autobiography Mein Kampf, which also served as his personal manifesto.
